罐頭的歷史
罐頭的發明源自於19世紀拿破崙軍隊食品保存問題。在1800年,拿破崙‧波拿巴提出只要誰能提供軍隊可行的食品保存方法,將給予12,000法郎的獎金。尼古拉‧阿佩爾經過數年的實驗,提出他的構想:利用玻璃罐密封煮熟的食物。這個方法在1810年獲獎。數年後,阿佩爾將此方法公布在〝The Art of Preserving Animal and Vegetable Substance〞上,同年,英國人彼得‧杜蘭利用阿佩爾的方法原理,嘗試各種不同材料的罐頭包裝,如玻璃、陶器、錫和其他金屬等,並在國王喬治亞三世建立了第一個罐頭模型,奠定了現代罐頭的雛型。
